The best way to make sure everyone in a lab group has the data is to save the EasyData file with the data, then transfer the file to each of your lab partner’s calculators. The saved EasyData file is an AppVar (short for application variable).

Transferring the file to other calculators

  1. On the calculator with the data, choose 3:Save As… from the EasyData File menu.
  2. Name the file as desired, (e.g. “boyles”), then choose OK.
  3. Exit the EasyData app, then disconnect the sensor and/or interface from the calculator.
  4. Using a unit-to-unit link cable, connect the calculator with the data with a calculator that needs the data.
  5. On each calculator, press [2nd][x,t,θ,n] (Link) to launch the Link menu.
  6. On the Receiving Calculator
    • Use the right arrow key to highlight RECEIVE, then press [Enter] to be Waiting…
  7. On the Sending Calculator
    • Use the up and down arrow keys to highlight C:AppVars…, then press [Enter].
    • Use the up and down arrow keys to point the cursor () at the file you want to send (e.g., “boyles”), then press [Enter].
    • Use the right arrow key to highlight TRANSMIT, verify the receiving calculator is Waiting…, then press [Enter].
  8. Once the transfer is complete, you can use both calculators to send data to other calculators.
    • Repeat Steps 4 – 7 as needed to get the file to all lab group partners.
    • Note: for Step 7, as long as you haven’t exited the Link menu, you can use the right arrow key to highlight RESEND to transfer the file again, as the file will still be selected.
  9. Once you have finished transferring the file, press [2nd][Mode] (Quit) to exit the link menu.

Opening the saved file in EasyData

  1. One each student’s calculator, start the EasyData App.
  2. From the No Interface Connected screen, choose None to continue without sensors.
  3. Choose 2:Open from the EasyData File menu, then select the file with your data (e.g., “boyles”).
  4. Choose Graph to view and analyze your data.
