“We purchased Vernier Video Analysis as a cost-effective way to enhance our physics labs,” said David Craig, associate department head at Oregon State University. “Students really got a kick out of analyzing videos they took themselves. We encouraged this because students could slow the videos down and re-watch them as needed as they analyzed the data and collaborated virtually as a group.”
“I was ecstatic when I first found out that Vernier Video Analysis was available for use on Chromebooks,” said Gillman. “It allows students to easily engage in data analysis on the devices we most frequently use in class and is a central component of the Line Rider investigation.”
“Even though we weren’t face to face, there was continuity of learning. Vernier allowed me to keep it going,” said Cauthron. “Students had the opportunity to interact with content, engage in scientific discovery, and grow their portfolio of skills. I’m confident my students will be prepared for next year, especially my seniors who are going off to college. That’s the best gift I can give them.”
“Hands-on learning is what made me fall in love with physics—being able to actually do a lab and see the results right in front of you is so much more intriguing than just sitting there learning about a concept,” said Ramirez. “This really changed the way I viewed science.”
“We were able to outfit this lab at a fraction of the cost if we used other technology,” she said. “In addition to being affordable, the Vernier technology is so reliable and easy to use. Students are able to get up and running right away with collecting and analyzing quantitative data.”
