This answer is for Windows as well as OS X. Scroll down for the brief OS X comments.

Windows

Logger Pro is set by default to display the correct experiments folder when Open is chosen from the File menu. As a result, most users won’t ever have to navigate to that folder manually.

Sometimes instructors want to add their own files to this standard Experiments folder. In that case, it is necessary to find that Experiments folder. Here’s where it is located.

Starting with Logger Pro 3.8, experiment files are installed in the Windows-standard location for application support files. For Windows Vista and newer (7, 8, 8.1, 10, 11,) this is the ProgramData folder, located at the root level of the main hard drive. For Windows XP, this folder is “C:/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data”. Note that on some XP laptops, the “All Users” folder may have a dot suffix so that the directory becomes “All Users.WINDOWS”, or something similar. This dot suffix has caused InstallShield 1335 failures with 3.8.2 because of the 256 character directory limit on XP.

To find the Logger Pro files for the US English installation directly, navigate to

For Vista and newer:
ProgramData/Vernier/Logger Pro 3/en-US/Experiments

For Windows XP:
Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/Vernier/Logger Pro 3/en-US/Experiments

Files for other languages are organized in the Logger Pro 3 folder.

For convenience, we installed a shortcut in:
Program Files/Vernier Software/Logger Pro 3/en-US <– 32 bit Windows Program Files (x86)/Vernier Software/Logger Pro 3/en-US <– 64 bit Windows If you double-click the shortcut titled “Experiments – Shortcut” found in the Logger Pro 3 folder, you’ll be taken to the ProgramData (Application Data on XP) location.

The shortcuts will always get you to the ProgramData (Application Data on XP) location, but note that the ProgramData folder is hidden by Windows by default. This means that it is hard to navigate directly to it without the shortcuts. To simplify navigation, you may want to set your Folder Options in Windows Explorer, View tab, to show hidden files, folders and drives.

Starting with Logger Pro 3.8, experiment files are installed in the OS X-standard location for application support files. This is the Application Support folder, located in /Library/ of the main hard drive.

In OS X the Logger Pro experiment files are located in:
/Library/Application Support/Logger Pro/Experiments

The application itself is located here:
/Applications/Logger Pro 3/

Note that there is an alias stored with the application that will take you directly to the Experiments folder. Unlike Windows, the video files are stored in the same folders as the Sample Movie cmbl files.
