The Ladder Experiment Kit (2DFP-LAD) is designed to be used with the Go Direct® 2-Axis Force Plate (GDX-FP2D) or 2-Axis Force Plate (FP2D-BTA) to investigate reaction forces at work on a ladder. It is designed to use either the 1.2 or 2.2 m long Combination Track/Optics Bench (TRACK) to act as the “ladder”.

The track bracket rests on the top of the 2-Axis Force Plate. When viewing the label on the force plate, placing the bracket on the right side will result in positive lateral force.

The low-friction rollers attach to the top of the track in order to minimize any vertical friction between the wall and the track.

You can attach a hanging mass to the side of the track using the eye bolt. This allows you to investigate how this affects the reaction forces at the wall and on the ground. This can be added before or after the rollers are installed. For ease of measurements the mass should be on the side of the track with the ruler. The configuration shown here allows for measuring the distance “up the ladder”.
