Why don't the absorbance readings for the Colorimeter or the spectrometers have units?

Absorbance readings are unitless because they are calculated from a ratio of the intensity of light transmitted through the sample (I) to the intensity of light transmitted through a blank (Io). Absorbance = log (Io/I)

Absorbance is a unitless measure of the amount of light of a particular wavelength that passes through a volume of liquid, relative to the maximum possible amount of light available at that wavelength.
