The Power Amplifier (PAMP) is designed to amplify output both AC and DC signals from a LabQuest. If you find that you cannot get a DC output voltage from the Power Amplifier, try the following:

1) Investigate the signal generator. If you are using a LabQuest, update the unit to the latest version of the software. If you are using our Power Amplifier Function Generator on your PC or Mac to generate a signal, verify that device’s sound card is not modifying the output in such a way as to eliminate the DC offset to the signal. For more details see: Why do I get strange waveforms from the Power Amplifier Function Generator application?

2) Try a different audio cable. The audio cable that ships with the Power Amplifier and is used to connect the LabQuest/computer to the Power Amplifier is a generic stereo, male-male cable. Swap the one you have been using for a different one. If the cable is bad or is a mono cable, the Power Amplifier will not be able to produce a DC output voltage.
