This article refers to the Vernier Energy Counter (
If the Vernier Energy Counter is continuously connected to an energy source (generator or solar panel) after the 30-second measurement period, the sensor can overheat. The best thing to do is immediately disconnect the Vernier Energy Counter from the energy source and let it cool down.
At voltages closer to the maximum of ±12 V, it will take less time for the sensor to overheat.
If the sensor is in danger of overheating while in use, a thermometer icon will appear on the display next to the battery status icon:

While this is displayed, the Vernier Energy Counter can still be used.
Once the sensor has reached the point of overheating, the display will show a warning icon, a thermometer icon, and a fire icon:

At this point, in order to avoid damaging the sensor, you MUST disconnect it from the energy source and let the sensor cool down.
Allowing the sensor to stay in the overheated state will void the warranty.
