This year’s International Physics Olympiad was held at Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen, where young contestants investigated the “Dæmonen” (The Demon) roller coaster with an original LabQuest and a Vernier 3-Axis Accelerometer.
The floorless roller coaster can reach speeds of up to 21 m/s (48 mph), and riders experience forces up to 4g. The participants found that the wildest ride on the roller coaster is experienced when sitting at the very back.
