The Vernier Sensor Cart has a built-in force sensor, used primarily to measure impulses and collisions the cart experiences. Sometimes students will want to use the Sensor Cart as a more traditional piece of lab equipment, use the force sensor to measure weights, masses, etc. Students can hold the Sensor Cart in their hands and hang items off the hook to weigh them.
If you anticipate using the Sensor Cart often for these sorts of measurements, you may consider 3D-printing a ring stand clamp.
The clamp attaches to the Sensor Cart; students slide out the magnet tabs from the end opposite the force sensor. The clamp requires a 1/4″-20 nut and corresponding thumb screw, such as the one used in our force sensors.
