Using Chemistry Instruments with Instrumental Analysis in a Browser

Instrumental Analysis is our free application to collect, graph, and analyze data from select Vernier chemistry instruments. You can run the application without installing anything on your device. You will need to be running the latest version of the Chrome or Edge browser for full compatibility and functionality. (Safari and Firefox browsers are not supported.)

Connect Your Chemistry Instrument Using USB

  1. If you are using a Mini GC, connect it to AC power, and turn the instrument on.
  2. Connect your chemistry instrument to the USB port of the computer.
  3. Launch Instrumental Analysis by going to instrumentalanalysis.app on your Chrome or Edge browser.
  4. Click or tap .
  5. Click or tap .
  6. From the instrumentalanalysis.app wants to pair box, click or tap your chemistry instrument. Your sensor’s ID is located near the barcode on the sensor label.
  7. Click or tap .
  8. If you are using a Go Direct Mini GC, you can change the default sensor channels.
    1. Click or tap  .
    2. Select the sensor channels you want to use.
  9. Click or tap .
  10. Select the appropriate experiment type for your instrument. Follow the software instructions to continue with data collection.

Connect Your Chemistry Instrument Using Bluetooth®

  1. Ensure your chemistry instrument is charged or connected to a power source.
  2. Turn the instrument on (the Bluetooth LED will flash red).
  3. Launch Instrumental Analysis by going to instrumentalanalysis.app on your Chrome or Edge browser.
  4. Click or tap .
  5. Click or tap .
  6. From the instrumentalanalysis.app wants to pair box, click or tap your chemistry instrument. Your sensor’s ID is located near the barcode on the sensor label.
  7. Click or tap . The Bluetooth LED on the instrument will flash green when successfully connected.
  8. If you are using a Go Direct Mini GC, you can change the default sensor channels.
    1. Click or tap  .
    2. Select the sensor channels you want to use.
  9. Click or tap .
  10. Select the appropriate experiment type for your instrument. Follow the software instructions to continue with data collection.
