The short answer is yes. A little construction is required to create a platform to connect the Test Wall to the Vernier Structures and Materials Tester (VSMT). Once connected, the VSMT is capable of measuring forces up to 1000 N (~225 lbs).

Users will need an interface and software to collect data. The interface can be a Go!Link or  LabQuest – any model (e.g., LabQuest Mini (LQ-MINI)).

The VSMT can be used with any of our software products: LabQuest App, Logger Pro, or Graphical Analysis 4. The GDX-VSMT requires Graphical Analysis 4. In the software you will want to specify an extended time period so that data collection does not stop before the test is complete. You can choose to end data collection by clicking/tapping the “Stop” button. After data collection is complete, apply the statistics function to identify the maximum force sustained by the Boomilever.

There are undoubtedly numerous ways to create a platform that will allow for the Structures Testers to measure the force required to break the Boomilever. We provide a solution for your consideration in the file below. As with all engineered devices, you are welcome to improve upon our initial design.
