CBL Texas Instruments original Calculator-Based Laboratory System (the original CBL) provides a portable and versatile data collection device for math and science. A wide variety of sensors, such as a Motion Detector, Dual-Range Force Sensor, pH system, Colorimeter, and Barometer, can be connected to the original CBL interface. The original CBL is connected to a TI-73, TI-82, TI-83, TI-83 Plus, TI-84 Plus, TI-85, TI-86, TI-89, TI-92, TI-92 Plus, or Voyage 200 graphing calculator with the link cable that comes with the calculator. Programs on the calculator control data collection with the original CBL. Since the original CBL is battery powered, it can be taken out of the classroom for experiments such as measuring accelerations experienced in amusement rides or monitoring the temperature and pH of a stream. Within the classroom, the original CBL provides a low-cost alternative to using computers. For many teachers, it is now possible to collect and analyze real-world data.

The original CBL System comes packaged with the original CBL interface, a temperature probe, light probe, voltage probe, experiment workbook, user's guidebook, batteries, and carrying case. The original CBL interface has three analog inputs, one ultrasonic motion detector input, one digital input, and one digital output. The ultrasonic motion channel accepts our Motion Detector. The analog channels accept the three sensors included and a wide range of Vernier probes. Data can be collected as quickly as 10,000 points per second or as slowly as one sample every 4 hours. It is also possible to simultaneously collect data from five channels. You can collect data in real time and plot the data on the calculator as it is collected. Since the original CBL has its own microprocessor and memory, it can also be disconnected from the calculator, allowing it to act as a stand-alone data logger.
